ST NEOTS DRUG DEALERS JAILED

TWO men have been sentenced to a total of 12 years in jail after several kilos of class A and B drugs were discovered at a property in St Neots.

William Chalkley, 25, of Kings Road, Eaton Socon and Bill Wigley, 27 of Buckden Hill, Buckden, admitted drugs offences at Huntingdon Crown Court on Thursday, December 3.

Chalkley and Wigley both pleaded guilty to production of amphetamine, conspiracy to supply amphetamine and conspiracy to supply cocaine.

Today, Chalkley was sentenced to seven years and Wigley was sentenced to five years at Huntingdon Crown Court.

On Monday, February 2, 2009 police assisted bailiffs to gain entry to a property in Brampton Gardens in order to serve an eviction notice.

At that time the tenant was in rent arrears but it was later discovered that he had sublet the property to someone else.

Once inside police discovered items including:

* A hydraulic press along with various steel moulds.
* Amphetamine with a street value of around £40,000
* Herbal cannabis with a street value of £130
* Cocaine with a street value of £1600
* Several thousand pills of Kamagra which is a copy version of Viagra
* 3 kilos of Benzocaine, a local anaesthetic sometimes used to cut cocaine
* 10 kilos of Boric acid which is sometimes used to cut cocaine
* A military smoke grenade
* A stun gun capable of delivering a shock of up to 800,000 volts (police tasers deliver 50,000 volts)
* A set of digital scales
* Mixing jugs and latex gloves

The investigation has taken many months with a lot of hard work by the officers involved and also significant forensic activity in order to prove some of the connections between the defendants and the drugs and equipment. This operation has without doubt disrupted a significant criminal enterprise.

Thanks

Good to hear & well done all.

Wonder if it will affect supply locally or if they'll just "import" from elsewhere.

Feb POlice Update

February has seen a slight increase in the number of burglaries, which have mainly been of premises where the occupier is away on holiday. These offences have also been mainly in rural locations and items taken are cash / jewellery. With this in mind, I would ask that you be a good neighbour and ask that you and your neighbours remain vigilant and immediately report any suspicious activity (persons and/or vehicles) to the Police via tel: 999 (emergency line) or 0345 456 456 4 (non emergency line). Please provide as many details as possible to enable us to best act upon the information provided

I would also like to share a great success that St Neots Neighbourhood Police Team has had. Following a tip off from a debt collector for a power firm. Officers actioned a warrant at the industrial estate (former airfield) in Little Staughton. Around 1450 cannabis plants and cultivation equipment were seized from 3 units on the estate. This is a significant amount and no doubt will have an impact on drugs for the area. A man has been arrested and charged in connection with this.

As always, if you wish to discuss anything for the area in which you live or work, please contact your local officer who will be able to answer any questions. Local officers / areas are below.

Automated 999 calls

I wonder if someone could help with this?

This morning my phone was slightly off the hook, the phone started to give the alarm sound. I thought at first that this was a distant car alarm but after a few minutes realised what it was and replaced the phone.

Five minutes later I had a police car outside with an officer telling me that it had generated a 999 call!

I didn't know an off the hook phone generated an emergency call.

Is that a new thing?

Dear e-coppers,

I am writing with an update following my last message. In the past few weeks I have been able to get out and about and meet members of the public and individuals from our partner organisations which has been a privilege.

I have been able to listen to their concerns and a key issue that keeps coming up and clearly causing the public concern is anti social behaviour, in particular speeding vehicles in our towns and villages, and inconsiderate and dangerous parking.

We will continue to support the Speedwatch programme and work with individuals who are taking time to work with us to ensure our roads are safe.

I would like to reassure members of our communities that we will continue with enforcement when drivers park inconsiderately or dangerously across Huntingdonshire and Fenland.

My team and I are committed to reducing crime and all types of anti-social behaviour across the division and provide the quality service that people living in Huntingdonshire and Fenland deserve.

Please find below a November update for St Neots Neighbourhood Team.

This will now be a monthly update

Dear Reader,

Please find the November 2010 St Neots Neighbourhood Policing Team Blog below.
This responsibility has now been taken over by PCSO Rob Hankinson and PCSO Tom Baugh. We will be submitting a monthly blog to this page allowing residents of St Neots to gain up to date knowledge of the goings on of your local neighbourhood policing team. The selected topics we aim to cover will be; Crime trends of note, Anti Social Behaviour Updates, Other Work and Good News/Work Stories.
November has proved to be a busy month for the St Neots Team. With Christmas just around the corner and recovering from the Halloween/Bonfire period, each member of the team has worked extremely hard to provide a high level of service.
Changes have been made within your Neighbourhood Policing Team. Here is an up to date list of local officers. Inspector Mark Greenhalgh, Sgt Ed McNeil and Sgt Spencer Evans. Priory Ward/Loves Farm – PC Chris Bockham, PCSO Lauren Bachman, PCSO Andy Shedd and PCSO Carol List. Eynesbury – PC Amanda Foreman, PCSO Sean Cornhill and PCSO Sharon Marsh. Eaton Socon/Ford – PC Dawn Fuller, PCSO Rob Hankinson and PCSO Tom Baugh. Rural Villages – PC Kersten Richmond, PC Drury, PCSO Carol Corn and PCSO Alan Newman.

Crime Trends of Note

The St Neots sector has continued to experience domestic burglaries during the month of November. As you may have read in the local press, Cambridgeshire Constabulary have gathered a special team of officers who are targeting and pro actively investigating the current spate of burglaries. These officers who go by the name of ‘Op Surf’ complete their duties in plain clothes with an aim of sneaking “under the radar” to catch the offenders. Whittled down from an initial list of 32, officers are currently monitoring 7 potential offenders. Arrests have been made regarding burglaries which have been committed within St Neots.
Businesses within St Neots have felt an increase of industrial burglaries. During November reports have been made to the Police where entry has been gained to premises and items have been stolen. These offences were occurring during the hours of darkness. Local officers have altered working patterns to allow them to patrol these areas regularly. Patrols have been conducted in marked and plain police vehicles.
During November Town centre officers saw a high increase in shopliftings. When these reports became more frequent officers immediately stepped up patrols around the shops which were being targeted. Through persistent hard work and regular patrols officers have seen an almost immediate decrease in offences.

Anti Social Behaviour Update

During November The Eynesbury Church Of England School had become victim of regular Anti Social Behaviour. Local youths decided that this location was an ideal place to congregate, become a nuisance and cause damage to the building. Reports were made by members of staff at the school to local officers in order to make them aware of the issues they were receiving. Local officers began to patrol the school premises with immediate effect. On Sunday 7th November whilst completing patrol of the area PCSO Sean Cornhill tracked down 5 males within the school premises. Evidence of drug taking was clear to PCSO Cornhill. Officers were called to the scene and the males were promptly searched unfortunately with a negative result. Patrols continue to be conducted in the area.
Moore’s Walk in the Town Centre felt an increase of Anti Social Behaviour during November. Reports were made by shops to the Police regarding youths causing ASB and possible Criminal Damage. PCSO Lauren Bachman visited all affected shops and began to take action. PCSO Bachman contacted local schools and conducted joint patrols with a staff member from Longsands. These patrols have put a stop to these incidents and patrols continue.
A slight increase of Anti Social Behaviour has been noted by the Police in Eaton Socon. Residents around Beatty Road and Drake Road have reported damage being done to properties. Local officers have picked up on these reports which are being investigated and patrols have been increased.

Other Work
On Saturday 6th November your Town Centre officers completed a public surgery which allowed St Neots residents to speak with their local officers. PC Chris Bockham, PCSO Andy Shedd, PCSO Lauren Bachman and PCSO Carol List were in attendance on the market square for a number of hours. Many more of these surgeries will be completed in the future; this is an ideal opportunity for you to voice any concerns or opinions you may have.
Your Neighbourhood Policing Team is very pro active in cracking down on drugs within St Neots. Each team member persistently gathers intelligence relating to drugs in St Neots which is then submitted via the relevant channels and investigated further.
On Wednesday 10th November a Section 23 Misuse of Drugs Act Warrant was executed within the Priory Ward, St Neots. Uniformed officers attended the address and began to search the property for drugs, drug paraphernalia and any other drug related items. This warrant proved to be a success as 5 small wraps of cannabis were found inside the property. A male within the property admitted to officers that in fact the cannabis which was located was his. The male was issued with a Cannabis warning and given strong words of advice by the officer in charge.

Good News/Work

On Friday 26th November St Neots saw the festive season arrive in full colour with the turn on of the fantastic Christmas lights!! Thousands of people braved the cold conditions and lined St Neots high street to watch the turn on. The lights were a great success and were enjoyed by everyone.
8 of your local policing team attended the event and conducted patrols throughout.
During this event 2 males were located by Sgt McNeill who were linked to a business burglary in the Town centre. These males were spotted within the large crowd which had gathered for the lights. Subsequently the males were swiftly arrested and taken to custody....A great spot Sgt!

......and finally

On Wednesday 17th November PC Drury and PCSO Carol Corn attended a ceremony at Hinchingbrooke Performing Arts Centre to receive a long service aware for 22 years exemplary service to the St Neots Sector. Their award was presented by the Lord Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire.

We hope all readers find this blog useful and interesting.

Thank you for the update. Could I also remind Eynesbury residents that Eynesbury Village Association will be holding another community safety meeting following the success off the last one. This will probably be later in January.
There will be a chance to voice any concerns about anti social behaviour and any other neighbourhood issues with the knowledge that they will be fed back to the powers that be. Community action and involvement is the key to effective policing of our neighbourhoods. I will update you all on the venue, date and time in due course.
Your attendance and support is most welcome.

December Update

Dear Reader,

Please find St Neots Neighbourhood Policing Team Blog below.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very Happy New Year and I sincerely hope you all had a Merry Christmas!
The selected topics we aim to cover will be; Crime trends of note, Anti Social Behaviour Updates, Other Work and Good News/Work Stories.
As expected your local Neighbourhood Policing Team has been kept busy during the festive season. The Town Centre has been filled with shoppers during the month of December with the build up to Christmas. The team has been out and about, engaging with the community providing reassurance during a busy time of the year.
Each member of the team has worked extremely hard to provide a high level of service.
Before we start to discuss the above topics please be aware of the 3 current Neighbourhood priorities being tackled by your local policing team.

1. Shoplifting (Town Centre)
2. Underage Drinking - Riverside Skate Park/Priory Park
3. ASB – Riverside Park
Crime Trends Of Note
Town Centre:
The Town Centre beat became victim to a serious street robbery where a cash box was snatched from a Securicor worker who was delivering money to a shop in Moore’s Walk. A male approached the worker and took the cash box . The male was then seen to return to a vehicle which had two further males inside. Officers conducted local enquiries which were fed to neighbouring forces resulting in the offenders being pursued and arrested. Three males have been charged with this offence.
Reports have been made to the Police regarding Theft of fuel from building sites on the Loves Farm estate. Enquiries have been made by local officers which will continue, security advice has been passed.

Eaton Socon/Ford:
During December Eaton Socon has become victim to a high number of shed/garage burglaries. Offenders have been targeting blocks of garages using the garages and darkness for cover to gain entry and steal items. Local enquiries are still ongoing. We are speaking with local residents aiming to collect as much evidence as possible to catch an offender.
The “Eatons” has also experienced a high increase of criminal damage during December. Offenders have been causing damage to properties and vehicles. The majority of these offences have been committed during the hours of darkness. In order to tackle this issue your local officers are conducted foot patrols in and around the problem areas.

Eynesbury:

Criminal damage has also hit Eynesbury. Vehicles have again been targeted where windows have been smashed and wiper blades. PC Amanda Forman created a press release for these offences in order to bring this spate of damage to the attention of Eynesbury residents.

Rurals:
Rural officers received a report of criminal damage to a mini bus in Buckden. An object has caused the window to smash however no item was found at the scene. Local officers conducted immediate enquiries and visited the victim.

Anti Social Behaviour Update
Due to the snow fall within December, calls involving Anti Social Behaviour made a slight increase with local youths throwing snowballs at properties and vehicles. PCSO Hankinson and PC Bockham responded to a large number of calls around the Duloe Road area of Eaton Socon. The youths were eventually moved from the area and informants were updated. No offences were revealed. The issues spread throughout St Neots over a week’s period.
The Town and Eynesbury beats have received minimal reports of Anti Social Behaviour during December. Any issues which came to light were tackled by local officers putting a stop to the problem.

Other Work
Rural officers conducted a Community engagement morning in Tilbrook. These surgeries gave local residents the opportunity to speak with their local officers if they wish to speak with the regarding any issues. These surgeries continue to be a success.
PCSO Cornhill performed an Anti Social Behaviour talk to pupils of the St Neots Community College. The aim of this talk was to inform students how serious ASB can be and the effects it can have.
PCSO Hankinson visited schools in Eaton Socon during the Christmas period. The aim of the visits is to allow pupils to speak with their local officers and to encourage engagement with the Police.

Good News/Work
Operation Titan was exercised in St Neots during December. This operation is aimed at the Night time economy in the Town Centre during the lead up to Christmas. Your local officers walked the high street during Friday/Saturday nights and engaged with the party goers and kept the spirits high in the Town.

We hope all readers find this blog useful and interesting.

St Neots Policing Team Blog

Dear Reader,
Please find the January 2011 St Neots Neighbourhood Policing Team Blog below.
The selected topics we aim to cover will be; Crime trends of note, Anti Social Behaviour Updates, Other Work and Good News/Work Stories.
Each member of the team has worked extremely hard to provide a high level of service during January.
Before we start to discuss the above topics, please be aware of our three new Neighbourhood Priorities. These priorities will be in effect for the next three months:
1) Night Time Economy (Town Centre)
2) Speeding (Kimbolton/Stonely & Great Staughton)
3) Anti Social Use Of Vehicles (A428/Tesco)
Crime Trends Of Note
Priory Ward (Town Centre)
The number of shopliftings within the Town Centre has dropped dramatically during January, seeing its lowest number of crimes reported. The Priory Ward has also experienced a small increase of dwelling burglaries. The reported offences are of a similar nature with the offenders gaining entry to properties by forcing open front doors or windows.
Eaton Socon/Ford
The “Eatons” have become victim to numerous reports of vehicle crime. These offences are being committed during the hours of darkness and within a small geographical area. The damage/interference being done varies from damaged windows/mirrors to slashed tyres.
Eynesbury
Criminal Damage to vehicles has also spread to Eynesbury with the offences being similar to the ones being committed in the Eatons. Eynesbury has also had two theft of motor vehicles reported to the Police, these vehicles are being stolen from within communal parking areas or from a private driveway. A number of attempt thefts of motor vehicles have been reported as vehicles are being tampered with. Vehicles that are ten years or older are being targeted.

Rurals
The Rural beat has experienced a high number of oil thefts from a number of different locations. Domestic heating oil is being stolen from properties along with fuel being taken from vehicles; offenders are simply removing fuels/oil from vulnerable properties/vehicles by transferring it in to another container. Shed burglaries have increased over the past month with offenders gaining entry and taking valuable electronic equipment.

Anti Social Behaviour Update
Your Neighbourhood Policing Team received reports of a 16th Birthday party taking place at the Little Paxton Nature reserve a few weeks ago. Officers and PCSO’s flooded the area to immediately put a stop to the underage drinking and prevent issues.
Small convenience stores within St Neots began to receive minor antisocial problems. Youths were attending these shops and causing problems for the members of staff and intimidating customers. The stores began to reports these problems to the Police who assisted by attending the stores, dealing with the issue(s) and banning these persons from attending in the future.
Cross Keys Mews in the Town Centre began to report reoccurring problems with school pupils hanging around the area in front of the small shops. Along with engagement with the schools your local Officers and PCSOs completed patrols at the heart of the issue resulting the youths moving on and peace being restored.

Other Work
Patrols by all officers and PCSOs have been focused on the Town Centre during January. The reason for this is relating to the robberies that occurred during December involving the G4S Vans that carry cash, subsequently no further robberies have been committed.
Officers have been completing local surveys in problems areas with an aim of trying to gather more information about the reported issues in order to take action. PCSOs have speaking with residents and members of the community to gather intelligence.
PCSOs have also increased they engagement with schools on their beats by attending school lessons/lunch times allowing the opportunity for the pupils to speak with them and get to know their local officers.

Good News/Work
A good piece of teamwork involving PCSO Hankinson & PC Carl Harris proved vital in order to detain an offender who had stolen items from the Co-op store in St Neots and also assaulted the manager during his escape. PCSO Hankinson & PC Carl Harris responded immediately on foot to this incident from the station. The officers met up with the members of staff from the store where the offender was positively identified running away from the scene. PCSO Hankinson & PC Carl Harris gave chase for a number of minutes resulting in the male being successfully detained and arrested for the revealed offences.

Two successful arrests of prolific shoplifters were completed by PC Bockham. The two offenders were charged with these offences and continue to be monitored.

Large amounts of ‘Section 59s’ have been issued to drivers who are using their vehicles in an Anti Social manner. Sections 59s are warnings that are issued to drivers advising them that if they continue to use their vehicles antisocially the Police have the power to seize their vehicle.

We hope all readers find this blog useful and interesting.

If you wish to speak with any member of your local policing team please contact us on 0345 456 4564 or visit the Police Station (Dovehouse Close)

Many thanks.

St Neots ' crack house' closure

Suspected 'crack house' closed
POLICE have secured the first closure of a suspected 'crack house' in Huntingdonshire.
Police applied for the home in Sandfields Road, St Neots, to be closed following numerous reports from residents of drug use at the property.
The Neighbourhood Policing Team, along with the Crime Action Team, put a closure notice on the property on Wednesday under section 1 of the Anti-Social Behaviour Act 2003. It follows a raid at the property last week.
Peterborough Magistrates' Court granted the application after hearing from police and statements from residents living nearby. The tenant did not attend the hearing.
Anyone entering the property during the next two months faces six months in prison and/or a fine.
It has taken just 10 days from the day of the warrant to secure a closure order on this property.
This should send a clear warning that anyone suspected of using their property for drug use faces being evicted.

The warrant was executed at the property as part of Operation Xander.
Two men, aged 44 and 18, a 22 year old woman and a 17-year-old boy were arrested and have been charged with various drug-related offences. All four are currently remanded in custody awaiting trial

What about the anti-social behaviour of riding pit bikes on Barford Road Pocket Park? Will anything be done to stop it or are the new "no motorbike" signs meant to be sufficient?

In light of many rumours circulating with reference to burgularies, a guy trying to barge his way into houses and a guy hanging around outside school gates. Is there any chance that we could be updated through this forum like we used to be?
